Readers respond: Stop enabling tax addiction

Welcome Home Coalition Director Molly Hogan’s opposition to cutting Metro’s tax rate for homeless services deserves a counterpoint, (“Opinion: Metro Council should reject proposal to cut tax rate for homeless services,” Dec. 22). Hogan hopes we forget that we pay lots of other taxes to address the crisis in our streets, and that this special tax was not intended to be permanent. Although this piece offers platitudes about improving efficiency, there’s not one concrete, actionable solution suggested by the writer to improve outcomes.
