Anna Bannanas coffeehouse established itself as a funky fixture of Northwest Portland’s Nob Hill the first time the ‘90s were cool.
On Jan. 1, it shuttered after more than 30 years in business, first as a coffee cart in 1993 and then as a brick-and-mortar café in 1994.
“Unfortunately, we had to make a really sad and tough call,” said Rand Klemp, who took over the coffeehouse on Northwest 21st Avenue in 2015 after the original owner, Bryant Anderson, sold it in 2014. “We’re working through it. It’s like a grief.”…
