Happy Valley man dies after being washed out to sea

DEPOE BAY, Ore. (KPTV) – A man died after he was washed out to sea while fishing near Depoe Bay on Wednesday, according to Oregon State Police.

Just after 2 p.m., on Jan. 15, troopers responded to a surf rescue in progress along the north end of Otter Crest Loop, just south of Depoe Bay. OSP says two men were fishing on the rocks on the shoreline when a wave washed one of them out to sea.

The man, identified by OSP as 45-year-old Hong B. Su, of Happy Valley, was in the water for about 39 minutes before he was found by the United State Coast Guard…
