Drunk driver arrested after hitting paramedics with her car, speeding away from Portland church parking lot

PORTLAND, Ore. — Two paramedics were hospitalized after a patient they were treating woke up and sped away from the scene. The Portland driver is facing assault and DUII charges.

On Thursday at 8:58 p.m., American Medical Response (AMR) paramedics responded to a call about an unresponsive woman in the driver’s seat of a car parked in a church parking lot in the 4500 block of Northeast 116th Avenue.

The woman, identified as 29-year-old Rasheon A. Murphy, woke up while the paramedics were treating her. Police said she then started the car and accelerated backwards, with the driver’s side door still open, hitting one paramedic and pinning them against the ambulance.
