Ensign Group adds first operations in Alaska, Oregon, and expands in Arizona, Washington

The Ensign Group has closed on the first of its acquisitions in the Alaska and Oregon markets.

The San Juan Capistrano, CA-based company had previously announced that it would be planting its flag in those states this year. Effective March 1, a subsidiary of Standard Bearer Healthcare REIT Inc., Ensign’s captive real estate company, acquired communities in these markets. In Alaska, the company acquired Polaris Extended Care and Polaris Transitional Care, a skilled nursing facility with 146 units located in Anchorage, and Horizon House, a 90-unit senior living community, also located in Anchorage.

In Mt. Angel, OR, Ensign acquired Mt. Angel Health and Rehabilitation and Mt. Angel Orchard House, a healthcare campus with 98 skilled nursing beds and 50 senior living units…
