A San Diego-based fast-food chain with dozens of Oregon locations plans to close up to 200 restaurants, and potentially sell another popular chain it owns, in an effort to improve its financial performance.
Jack in the Box announced Wednesday plans to shutter 150 to 200 “underperforming” restaurants, up to 120 which could close by the end of the year. The 74-year-old chain operates about 2,200 locations nationwide — most along the West Coast — with nine restaurants in Portland and 41 across Oregon.
The majority of restaurants targeted for closure have been open for more than 30 years, according to the release. Most would shut down by the end of the year, with the remainder closing when their franchise agreements end…
