VANCOUVER Wash. (KPTV) – A 29-year-old Vancouver mother was found guilty of manslaughter on Thursday after her toddler died from a fentanyl overdose last year, according to court documents.
Court documents state the 21-month-old girl was found dead in her crib in late March 2024. She tested positive for both fentanyl and Narcan. The toddler’s mother, Katherine Richards, said she gave the toddler Narcan because a friend had been smoking fentanyl nearby.
Richards claims she didn’t use fentanyl herself, but according to court documents, the friend later told police that was a lie and they both were smoking fentanyl that day…
