Architects of famous Portland hotel designed this 1926 home for sale at $1.3M. See the classic interior

When commercial engineer George Rauch decided to build his 1926 Portland trophy house, he hired people he knew: architects who designed the downtown Heathman Hotel, and engineers and contractors who constructed bridges.

For a softer touch, Rauch and his wife, Mable, later brought in architect Richard Sundeleaf, whom the Lake Oswego Preservation Society considers “one of Oregon’s most significant, versatile and prolific architects,” to expand the kitchen and family room under wood-beam ceilings.
