Multnomah County DA, county chair spar over budget: ‘This community deserves to know what they’re losing’

Multnomah County District Attorney Nathan Vasquez continued his barrage of criticism toward Chair Jessica Vega Pederson’s $4 billion budget Monday, piling reporters into his office for a second media event decrying potential cuts to his staff.

Deputy District Attorney Theresa Turner, who leads the office’s efforts to curtail retail theft, joined Vasquez to highlight her work. Her job and the positions of nine others in the District Attorney’s Office would be cut under the proposed fiscal plan Vega Pederson unveiled Thursday, Vasquez said.
