PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland’s CAT Thrift Store — named for its owners, the Cat Adoption Team — will shut its doors at the end of June. The shop off of Southwest Scholls Ferry Road has been operating its unique concept for over a decade, helping about 100 feline friends find their forever homes straight from the storefront.
The Cat Adoption Team’s main shelter facility in Sherwood isn’t going anywhere, but the nonprofit organization’s leaders said that after nearly 14 years in operation, rising operational costs and diminishing sales have made it so the thrift shop just doesn’t pencil out anymore.
“Very difficult decision,” said Karen Green, executive director of the Cat Adoption Team. “We were all very attached to the store.”…
