Oregon City woman pleads guilty to stealing $25,000 from Fred Meyer to support her gambling habit

A former Fred Meyer employee on Tuesday pleaded guilty to stealing more than $25,000 from the retailer to fund her gambling habit, court records show.

Prosecutors initially alleged that Rainbow Melodi Stammet, 43, of Oregon City, stole more than $60,000 over the course of a monthslong theft spree — but prosecutors ended up dropping some of the charges, the Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement. She ultimately pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree aggravated theft and a count of first-degree theft, court records say.
