Oregon City Residents Invited to Discuss Future of Old County Courthouse at Upcoming Public Meeting

Clackamas County officials are opening the floor to the public for a discussion on the future of the old county courthouse in Oregon City, an 87-year-old building poised for a transformation. On May 15, community members will have the opportunity to share their thoughts on a proposed redevelopment plan during a Board of Commissioners meeting, detailed in a recent announcement by the Clackamas County.

The proposal under consideration comes from Level Development NW, which was the only response to a recent Request for Expressions of Interest. The plan involves replacing the courthouse with a new building that would include commercial spaces and approximately 80 residential units. The advisory committee has expressed support for this recommendation. Members of the public can provide input through in-person testimony at the Board Hearing Room, email comments to [email protected], or verbal comments via Zoom using a provided link.

As noted by county officials, the present courthouse, a fixture on Main Street, is expected to be vacated by September 2025, giving way to the county’s next chapter of judicial infrastructure. The baton will be passed to a new courthouse slated to open on May 19 at the County’s Red Soils Campus. Public contribution is not limited to this single instance; ongoing comments are welcome at any Board Business Meeting, with resources available for those unsure of how to present effective testimony…
