Domestic violence leads to attempted murder in Vancouver

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Vancouver domestic disturbance escalated into gunfire early Saturday before the suspect fled but was found and arrested for attempted murder.

The incident in the Fourth Plain Village neighborhood happened around 5 a.m. May 10, Vancouver police posted on X. A woman called to report the man — Derek Lloyd Hinzmann — pointed a gun at her while he was “destroying her home.”

When he took off in his car, police quickly spotted him. Hinzmann got out of the car and was arrested as he laid face down on the road…
