PORTLAND, Ore. — With Multnomah County in the midst of significant budget cuts, one commissioner has proposed slashing the county’s Office of Sustainability in order to preserve funding for homeless services. Environmental advocates argue that this would be a crippling blow to a small but mighty agency.
“If we lose that, we’re losing that proactive, effective work to protect our community from the climate crisis that we’re in,” said Mary Peveto.
