Portland’s Pier Pool expected to reopen in July

PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland’s Pier Pool is expected to reopen mid-July after closing for repairs last summer.

According to Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R), construction work for the 84-year-old Pier Pool, located at 9457 North Bristol Avenue, will continue through early July, then it officially opens July 14 for full operation, including swimming lessons.

Crews have finished most of the critical repairs, including replacing 1940s-era pipes and boilers, rebar dowel work and pouring new concrete. The crews had run into an unexpected issue with the expansion joint running through the center of the pool, where the pool wall meets the pool floor; PP&R said only one product can seal said joint, and it has a “long lead time.”…
