Man fired shots, pointed gun at officers prior to being shot by deputy in Parkrose Neighborhood, police say

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The man who was shot and injured by a Multnomah County Sheriff’s Deputy fired shots in the neighborhood and pointed a gun at officers leading up to the incident in the Parkrose Neighborhood on Friday, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

The man who was shot was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and no police officers or deputies were injured, officials said.

PPB said the incident happened in the 4600 block of Northeast 116th Avenue.

Prior to the shooting, the suspect was briefly contacted and detained by Portland police in the late afternoon after officers investigated a disturbance regarding two men reportedly fighting.
