PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — A class action lawsuit has been filed against the U.S. Department of Labor and Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer over planned closures of 99 Job Corps sites across the country.
According to the lawsuit, the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014 allows the closure of Job Corps only after advance notice and public comment.
Instead, the suit alleges Chavez-DeRemer and the Department of Labor broke federal law by suspending the Job Corps program and announcing on May 29th that all Job Corps sites would close by the end of June…
