NTSB reveals reason behind terrifying Alaska Airlines door plug blowout

The National Transportation Safety Board has blamed “multiple system failures” for a door plug panel flying off an Alaska Airlines plane shortly after takeoff last year.

The jetliner blew out a portion of its fuselage shortly after takeoff above Oregon in January 2024, forcing the pilots to make an emergency landing in Portland. None of the 171 passengers and six crew members onboard were seriously hurt.
