Stranger grabs, harasses child in alleged racially motivated attack at Hillsboro park

HILLSBORO, Ore. (KPTV) — A Tuesday evening trip to Shute Park in Hillsboro ended with a mother defending her 6-year-old son from a woman she says grabbed and harassed him in a racially motivated attack.

The mother, who asked to remain anonymous, tells FOX 12 that around 7:30 p.m., she, her two sons and a friend left Shute Park to purchase snacks from the Plaid Pantry at Southeast Maple Street and 10th Avenue.

As they stepped into the crosswalk, the mother said a troubled woman — later identified by Hillsboro police as 32-year-old Ashley McGhee — approached them…
