New limited-entry permit required at Sauvie Island on summer weekends

A new permit will be required to park at popular beaches on Sauvie Island during weekends and holidays this summer due to major traffic and parking problems at the wildlife area north of Portland, officials announced June 27.

Vehicles will need one of a limited number of Sauvie Island Beaches Passes, in addition to the Wildlife Area Parking Permit ($10 daily), to park at Walton Beach, Collins Beach, Willow Bar and North Unit beginning July 4.
