PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The wrecking ball met the former Nordstrom location at the Lloyd Center Monday, the first step in construction of a new music venue at the site.
Earlier this year, the Portland-based Monqui Presents and internationally-renowned AEG Presents announced that crews build a live music space in the Lloyd District. Works Progress Architecture, the firm behind the Buckman neighborhood’s Hotel Grand Stark and Jupiter NEXT, has been tapped to construct the site. Once the 68,000-square-foot space is complete, it is expected to accommodate between 2,000 and 4,250 concertgoers.
‘It’s a transition’: MusicPortland, MusicOregon executive director steps down
The new venue will take over the former Nordstrom building on Northeast Multnomah Street, which stakeholders said offers visitors several transit and parking options. The multi-genre concert space will also offer the “ultimate live experience” with “state-of-the-art acoustics,” according to stakeholders.
If all stays on schedule, the new venue is expected to open in early 2027…
