Grand jury finds Portland police officer justified in killing man who had pellet air rifle

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — A Multnomah County grand jury has found that a Portland police officer was justified in shooting and killing a man late last year who police said was armed with a pellet gun and a knife, the district attorney’s office said Monday.

Officer Andrew Young killed 28-year-old Nicholas G. Thorn of Portland on Oct. 4, 2024.
