Portland man gets 25-year sentence after killing homeless man, attempting to kill 2 witnesses

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Portland man was sentenced to 25 years in prison after killing a homeless man and attempting to kill two homeless women back in 2023, authorities said.

Brandon Nicholas Gilpin was sentenced on Wednesday in a Multnomah County court after pleading guilty to first-degree manslaughter with a firearm and two counts of second-degree attempted murder with a firearm.

The sentencing comes after Gilpin “caused a tidal wave of fear and grief that I am certain is still being felt to this day,” said Multnomah County Deputy District Attorney Devin Franklin.
