PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A search is underway in the Trillium Lake area for a 52-year-old experienced mountain biker who left his Gresham home early Friday and hasn’t been seen since.

Ralph Sawyer was expected back at his home around 8:30 p.m. Friday, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said in a release. Sawyer, who is familiar with the terrain, went mountain biking near Mount Hood.

A team of searchers found his blue Kia Soul shortly after midnight, and his cell phone was inside the car. A more extensive search with ATVs, K9s, ground searchers and drones was launched, with an additional search plane from the Hood River County Sheriff’s Office.
