Owner of classic Oregon hot dog stand dies at 78

The owner of an iconic hot dog stand on Southeast McLoughlin Boulevard — that one of his longtime employees called “the OG of food trucks” — has died.

Jim Roake, 78, served hot dogs, hamburgers and fries from the stand that bore his name starting in 1975, but the beloved business traces its history to 1937.

Roake died Friday from a rare disease in the family of ALS, said his wife, Ruth Roake, who vowed to keep the business going…
