Police: Man smoking cigar hit in head with hammer, suspect damages TriMet Property

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — A man is being held without bail on several probation violations after an unprovoked attack in Portland over this past weekend.

According to court documents, police responded to an assault call Saturday near the intersection of North Interstate Avenue and North Graham Street.

They found a man bleeding from his head, who told officers he was smoking a cigar in his lawn chair on the sidewalk, when a man approached him and then suddenly hit him in the head with a hammer…
