Police seize stolen hand-crafted jewelry, dozens of other items in SW Portland home

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — One person was arrested for alleged burglary and thousands of dollars worth of stolen items were recovered from a home in Southwest Portland this week, authorities said.

The Portland Police Bureau said officers served a warrant at the home in the 4300 block of Southwest Garden Home Road in the Multnomah Neighborhood on Wednesday at 8 a.m.

“Handmade jewelry crafted by a Portland area artist and other homemade goods that had been distributed to various pawn shops were among the recovered items,” PPB said in a press release.

Portland resident Joseph P. Doherty, 46, was arrested during the serving of the warrant. He was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center and accused of first-degree burglary, six counts of second-degree burglary and first-degree criminal mischief.

The operation was conducted as part of a burglary investigation and the PPB’s Special Emergency Reaction Team, Crisis Negotiation Team, the Lake Oswego Police Department and the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office, among others…
