PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Following the announcement that the Gateway Fred Meyer store will close down this September, more information has come to light about how many employees will be impacted.
Earlier this week, a spokesperson for Fred Meyer told KOIN 6 News every associate at the Gateway store would be given the opportunity to transfer to a new location.

On Friday, a WARN Notice was issued by the State of Oregon, saying there would be 249 layoffs at the store. However, KOIN 6 confirmed with a Fred Meyer spokesperson that each and every one of those 249 associates will still be given the opportunity to work at a different store after the Gateway Fred Meyer closes.
Further, while the WARN Notice listed Sept. 20, 2025 as the permanent closure date, Fred Meyer said the official closure of their Gateway store may still happen before or after that time…
