City, county leaders assess homelessness response as Mayor Wilson’s ‘end of year’ deadline looms

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Leaders from the Portland Metro area met Friday to discuss the next steps in their Homelessness Response Action Plan.

First approved in July 2024, the plan created a structure for Multnomah County and the City of Portland to work together to address the issue, touching on several different aspects of the homeless crisis.

At Friday’s meeting, attendees were asked to consider inflow or people going into homelessness, outflow or people coming out, as well as safety on and off the streets. Community members and elected officials discussed what steps within these areas they wanted to put emphasis on going forward.
