Portland Man Receives 6-Year Sentence for Firearms Possession in Drug Trafficking Case

A Portland man has been handed down a six-year federal prison sentence for illegal firearm possession linked with drug trafficking activities. Rocky Allan Rainwater, 25, will also face three years of supervised release following his incarceration, as reported by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The case against Rainwater surfaced when FBI and Clackamas County Interagency Task Force operatives discovered he was using Telegram, an encrypted messaging service to peddle various narcotics. These included substances ranging from cocaine to LSD, and psilocybin mushrooms to marijuana. Notably, the investigation found that Rainwater was not just selling to adults but to minors as well, operating under the moniker “smokeyinpdx” and catering to clients both locally and out-of-state, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

His operation was disrupted on March 22, 2024, following a sting operation where Rainwater was apprehended. Authorities seized a .22 caliber pistol, a significant amount of drugs, and items associated with drug dealing.
