Portland Police Trying to Fill Vacancies

PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland Police tell city council they’re working to fill dozens of vacant police officer jobs, but are having trouble keeping up as others leave the force.

 There’s no shortage of work according to Assistant Chief Amanda McMillan. “Drug dealing, unlawful weapons, possession, stolen vehicles.”

But they are short officers and trying to fill the jobs. “We still have about 87 vacancies that we are working toward filling.”…
