PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Authorities have identified the suspect in a fatal stabbing in Southeast Portland that led responding officers to immediately remove five children from the home.
S Mate Joseph, 28, faces a domestic violence charge of second-degree murder as well as first-degree burglary for the incident on Saturday, July 19.

That day, officers responded to a home near 6400 SE 143rd Court and found that a woman was already dead with five children in the home. Officers got the children out of the home unharmed.
The search for Joseph lasted for hours before police cleared the area where the stabbing took place. He was later arrested and taken into custody by police in Vancouver.
Officials have not publicly identified the victim. A medical examiner will determine her official cause of death…
