CLACKAMAS COUNTY Ore. (KPTV) – Investigators are seeking more victims after a man was arrested in connection with tool thefts through deception from stores in Portland and Clackamas, according to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday.
On July 10, an employee at a Clackamas interior supply store reported that someone had called on July 9 and fraduatly used a drywall company’s account number to purchase over $6,300 of tools by phone. The caller allegedly told the employee that the people picking up the tools would use a verbal “password” because the caller “didn’t trust anyone.”
Later that day, a man and a woman arrived at the store, said the password, picked up the tools, and left in a gray, four-door Chevrolet Bolt hatchback with Washington State license plates.
Afterward, the employee called the drywall company to double-check the sale and learned that the drywall company had not made the purchase…
