PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – The area near the Central Library in Downtown Portland was rattled when a deadly shooting happened earlier in July. It prompted a brief closure and changes to security protocols. Now, library officials said they’re doing even more to keep people safe.
“Downtown Portland needs a lot more security,” said frequent library visitor Martha Jackson.
The library has added three contracted security officers, bringing the total to seven. Additionally, Wi-Fi access has been limited to library hours, and the building maintenance and trash removal schedule has been increased. Changes that some said are a long time coming…
