Police surround Portland apartment building after suspect climbs on roof

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Police have surrounded an apartment building in east Portland after a domestic violence suspect climbed onto the roof, authorities said.

According to Portland police, early Saturday morning, officers responded to a domestic violence call at an apartment in the 10400 block of East Burnside Street.

When officers attempted to contact the suspect, police said he refused to leave the apartment, then climbed out a window and onto the roof to escape.
