In what culminated as a peaceful demonstration, Portland witnessed a protest march that wrapped up without any incidents of damage or injuries, as reflected in the Portland Police Bureau’s latest update. The march, which began at Tom McCall Waterfront Park and wound its way through the Downtown Portland neighborhood, was closely monitored by police to ensure both the safety of participants and the unimpeded flow of city traffic.
The anticipated path of the march was projected to affect major thoroughfares such as Northwest Naito Parkway and Northwest Davis Street, along with several cross streets culminating at Southwest Columbia Street. The Portland Police Bureau, in response, strategically positioned dialogue officers and bicycle patrol units to mingle with the gathering. An Incident Command Team was also activated, overseeing a cohesive synergy of the Dialogue Liaison Officers donned in white uniform shirts, the Rapid Response Team, and public safety allies.
