Portland announces first of 4 city-funded homeless day centers planned for each district

Portland Mayor Keith Wilson’s plan to end unsheltered homelessness includes funding day centers in each of the city’s four voting districts as a companion to the 12 to 15 overnight-only shelters he’d also like to open. The idea is to offer people staying in nighttime shelters a chance to spend the day in a safe space where they can connect to services.
