California men accused of posing as FBI agents, robbing Portland-area businesses

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Five California men have been indicted for posing as personnel with the Federal Bureau of Investigation while stealing hundreds of devices from a Portland shop.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of California announced that Bay Area residents Cankun He, Hailong Ma, Robert Maynard, Yuxiang Wei and Jordan Cantie were all charged with conspiring to commit a Hobbs Act Robbery on July 22.

The federal office reported that 31-year-old He, 30-year-old Ma and 25-year old Wei planned the robbery, while 41-year-old Maynard and 48-year-old Cantie conducted the robbery. Investigators said Ma also provided his four co-defendants with fake FBI jackets, bulletproof vests, zip ties and other supplies before they traveled from California to Oregon for the scheme that occurred on Monday, April 14.

Court documents unsealed on Tuesday show that Ma and Wei waited near Faith Fly International, a reshipping business based in Portland’s Parkrose neighborhood, as Maynard and Cantie drove into the parking lot while flashing blue and red lights that resembled police lights…
