TriMet on Aug. 24 will permanently shutter the Skidmore Fountain Metropolitan Area Express (MAX) Station in order to speed up the MAX light-rail Blue and Red lines through downtown Portland, Oregon.
TriMet’s board voted last year to close the station, TriMet officials said in a press release.
Currently, MAX trains stop at three stations spaced closely together along 1st Avenue in downtown Portland. As a result, trains move more slowly along the route. Closing the Skidmore Fountain station and eliminating a stop, commuters will save time as MAX trains travel directly between the Old Town/Chinatown and Oak St/SW 1st Avenue stations…
