Wrong-way driver sped into oncoming traffic, eluded deputies, officials say

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A driver was arrested in Cornelius on Wednesday after driving into oncoming traffic and running multiple stop signs while speeding, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday.

The driver was first spotted in a 2002 Chevy S10 near S. Dogwood St. and 10th Ave. driving the wrong way when deputies tried to make a stop and the driver sped away, deputies said.

The incident led to a pursuit that ended near SW Klickitat Ave. and SW Hwy 47 in Forest Grove.

The driver was arrested and taken to Washington County Jail on charges of attempting to elude and reckless driving. He also had outstanding warrants, according to deputies…
