PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Despite a new report indicating a decline in homicides and other violent crimes in Portland this year, community organizations say that their work is far from over.
On a sunny Saturday afternoon, a group of teenagers took to the streets of Northeast Portland, canvassing the Cully neighborhood to distribute flyers for an upcoming community event aimed at disrupting violence.
The initiative, “Love is Stronger,” is dedicated to preventing gun violence.
