PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — With devastating flooding happening around the country in 2025, Clackamas Fire is teaming up with the Oregon Army National Guard to practice responding in case of aquatic emergencies.
On Tuesday, Clackamas Fire’s water rescue personnel will be working taking a flight on the Oregon Army National Guard’s CH-47 Chinook Helicopter to simulate deploying in areas with rising or swift water to carry out flood rescue operations.
During the drill, Clackamas Fire said they will be flying on the helicopter from Aurora State Airport to a staging area at the Sandy River Airport to showcase how rescue teams can quickly respond and reach inaccessible areas during severe floods.
