Businesses in Goose Hollow concerned about future as crime, drug issues linger

PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – In the past year, several businesses have moved out of the Goose Hollow neighborhood of Southwest Portland. Many citing crime, drug use and inconsistent foot traffic as the common factors.

Last week at a Portland City Council meeting, members of the Stadiumhood Association, which represents businesses around Providence Park, spoke to local officials about what they say is growing concern for those working in the neighborhood.

“Businesses around my business are closing in droves, it is a desert of business,” Karen Chirre said, Co-Owner of the Stadium Superette. “It’s draining, and I don’t want to give up, and I’m not going to give. I want to help other small businesses not give up too. I need the city and county to help me do that.”…
