Reported assault leads to SWAT standoff, fatal house fire in Lake Oswego

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man is dead after a reported domestic assault turned into a SWAT standoff, leading to a house fire late Thursday night.

At around 10:30 p.m., officials received a 911 call from a woman reporting her boyfriend had assaulted her and she was able to safely leave the area.

When Lake Oswego police officers responded to the home on Timberline Drive and made contact with the boyfriend by phone, officials said he “made threatening statements toward officers.”

Officers then requested backup from a Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team, as well West Linn, Tualatin and Oregon City police…
