Portland man pleads not guilty to assaulting federal officer at ICE protest

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Robert “Jacob” Hoopes, a Portland resident and recent Reed College graduate, pleaded not guilty on Friday, Aug. 15 to charges of aggravated assault on a federal officer and damaging a federal building.

The charges stem from his alleged involvement in a violent protest at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) building in South Portland on June 14, 2025.
