PORTLAND, Ore. — Prosecutors have dropped all charges against the person who was accused of fatally shooting a man in the parking lot of a Northeast Portland Safeway grocery store last month. An indictment hearing scheduled for Monday morning was cancelled.
Ashe Sarethi, 41, had been charged with second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon stemming from the death of Jasen Fitzsimmons, 42, but court documents show that a grand jury returned a “not true bill” of indictment for both counts on Friday, and the state subsequently declared that it couldn’t proceed with the case. The charges were dismissed later the same day.
