Missing West Linn woman found safe in Maury Mountains

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A West Linn woman is safe after she went missing searching for rocks in the Maury Mountains.

Valeria Puk, 65, was reported missing by her husband on Aug. 15 at 11 a.m. when she failed to return.

Search and rescuers from the Crook County Sheriff’s Office were assisted by the Prineville Police Department, U.S. Forest Service, and Deschutes County Search and Rescue as they canvassed her last known location and probable paths.

Crews searched overnight, but Puk was not located until the following morning, around 7:30 a.m. She was dehydrated and exhausted but was otherwise healthy, according to rescuers…
