Portland tries to toe the line between revitalizing downtown and enforcing regulations

PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland Mayor Keith Wilson led a press conference this week celebrating, for the first time in six years, the return of Sunday Parkways to downtown Portland beginning next month. Streets will be closed to vehicles for a once-each-week community block party run by the Portland Bureau of Transportation.

The reboot coincides with the promotion of Portland Staycation, an effort to get Portlanders out for a long weekend full of events happening Sept. 12-14.
