PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Portland Fire has unveiled a new technique to combat heat-related illnesses, known as Tarp-Assisted Cooling with Oscillation, or TACO.
This method involves placing a person on a tarp and pouring ice over them, submerging them up to their chest. The tarp is then gently rocked back and forth, allowing cold water to flow over the body for rapid cooling.
