PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Nearly a year after Multnomah County advanced plans for a new Gresham homeless shelter, officials are weighing the proposal’s impact on the public.
Gresham City Councilor Cathy Keathley held a listening session centered on the future of Cook Plaza on Thursday. County officials purchased the property, which previously served as an Oregon employment office, in December 2022. The Board of Commissioners approved plans to remodel the building as an East County Homelessness Resource Center later in September 2024.

The project is expected to cost $8.4 million. It would offer drop-in day services, as well as a 24/7 shelter.
